In Texas we have some serious rainy days (and sometimes for a week at a time, like this week). Last year was one of the wettest years on record and I’ve learned from experience that I’m going to wear the appropriate gear when out in the water (even if it’s just to run inside from the parking lot at the office). Over the past 4 years, I’ve invested in a few pairs of Hunter Rain Boots to fit the bill for a rainy day (or a day out on the ranch dealing with livestock). I’ve had other pairs of rain boots before, but nothing compares to Hunters. They stay the shape they are supposed to, look brand new when you use the buffer brush after being outside in the mud, and have the most vibrant colors. They are definitely a splurge, but last fall, I was able to add two pairs to my closet for the price of one when Nordstrom price matched them for me since I saw the same pairs (in the same size) at Costco.com. Rainy days can be so dreary, so why not liven up your outfit with a fun pair of boots or with a fun coat like this one or this one.
When I saw this clear umbrella, I immediately had a flashback to Elementary School. How cute would that be with any colored jacket or pair of rain boots? It’s a great neutral that still adds a fun twist for a rainy day!
I always have an umbrella (or two or three) in my car with me. My mom taught me that years ago because you never know when you’ll need it (and it’s always good to have a spare just in case you have a friend with you that will need to borrow it OR when you forget to put the first one back in your car and it rains again, so always carry a spare).
I have the same few umbrellas in my car that I’ve had for over 10 years and they still work great. I did recently add this one to my collection. I opted for black after needing an option that a man would carry (my Vera Bradley and hot pink one just wasn’t cutting it), but it comes in several different color options.
Nars lipglosses are some of my favorites (Orgasm and Turkish Delight are my current favorites). I love an easy gloss that adds both color and gloss at the same time (and it makes the perfect final touch for a rainy day so you still looked polished, but aren’t dealing with a strong lip color to overpower your bright rain gear.
What rain gear can you not live without? I’d love to hear your must haves in the comments!
P.S. Congratulations to Rebecca C. for winning the FREE Rodan + Fields regimen! I’ve sent you an e-mail…so let me know which one you’d like!
